More Information

Meet at 12:00pm at Durango Transit Center
We'll be meeting at the Durango Transit Center. If you're planning to leave a car at the Transit Center you'll need to go inside to the desk and pay for parking- $5 per day, free on Saturday and Sunday so you'll just need to pay for Thursday and Friday. The Transit Centers also have restrooms that will be open for use upon your arrival.

Once everyone's loaded we'll head to our campsite, somewhere near Purgatory Ski Area. We don't know exactly where we'll be camped since dispersed camping sites are first come/first served. Our drive will be about 45 mins to an hour.

Once in camp we'll give everyone some time to get their tent setup and then have a delicious dinner. Right after dinner we'll have a meeting to discuss our hikes for the week.

Day 2
We'll have and early breakfast and then load up in the van to shuttle to our first hike.

Following our hike on Thursday, we'll arrive back in camp around 3pm. Hikers will have some free time until dinner that they can fill with card games, reading, or enjoying some wilderness solitude.

We'll have a wonderful dinner (with dessert!) and then have our evening "trail talk" to discuss the next days hike.

Day 3
Same as Thursday but with different a different hike, and a different menu!

Day 4
is a little different than the first two days as we plan to take two shorter hikes, so there will be a shuttle between hikes. A little bit of a longer day time wise, but the milage won't be much more than Thursday and Friday.

Durango, Colorado is known for being one of the great adventure towns of the west. Unfortunately, getting there can be half the adventure.

The Durango- La Plata County Airport has direct flights on American Airlines from Phoenix and Dallas. United Airlines offers direct flights from Denver as well as flights from Houston seasonally. If you chose to fly in, the airport is about 20 min outside of town, so you will need transportation to and from the aiport. You can find more info on airport shuttles HERE.

The only other good option for getting to Durango is to drive. Approximate driving times are:
  • From Denver: 6 hrs
  • From Phoenix: 7.5 hrs
  • From Salt Lake City: 6.5 hrs
  • From Kansas City: 14 hrs
  • From Austin: 15 hrs
If you're planning to leave a car parked at the Transit Center during our trip you'll need to pay for a parking pass in person at the Transit Center. Parking is $5 per day but free on Saturday and Sunday.

Another option- Depending on where you are coming from this could work out:
More Information: The shuttle to the campsite on Sunday will take about 45 min to an hour.

These Shuttle/Meeting Directions may be subject to change. The Durango Transit Center can run out of parking or be reserved for large events. In that case, hikers who are parking cars will be provided an alternative parking place. If you are not leaving a vehicle, your meeting location will be at the transit center regardless of parking availability. You will be notified of any changes.

Yes—very common. Across our hiking, biking, and art trips, a large percentage of our guests sign up solo. These experiences are designed to bring together people who share a passion for the outdoors and adventure, so you’ll be joining a group of like-minded individuals from day one. Our guides foster a welcoming, inclusive environment that makes it easy to connect—whether you’re on the trail, or relaxing back at camp.

We also regularly have couples and small groups of friends join our trips, which adds to the overall dynamic and makes each group unique. No matter how people arrive, everyone quickly blends into one cohesive group. There’s no pressure—just a supportive, social atmosphere where you can engage as much or as little as you’d like.

By the end of the week, it’s common for solo travelers to leave with new friendships and future adventure partners. Many guests find that coming alone actually enhances the experience, giving them the opportunity to fully immerse themselves and meet new people along the way.
