Ride the Legendary Colorado Trail

The Colorado Trail is one of the nation’s most spectacular long-distance routes, winding nearly 500 miles from Waterton Canyon southwest of Denver to near Durango, Colorado. It passes through high-alpine terrain, lush forests, wildflower meadows, and dramatic river valleys.

While the trail is a classic destination for hikers, it is also prized by mountain bikers. This high-country route combines flowing singletrack with sustained climbs and descents, rewarding riders with epic scenery, solitude, and a deep connection to Colorado’s backcountry.

CME’s Colorado Trail bike trips cover select segments of the trail, ideal for riders who want a true Colorado Trail experience without committing to a full thru-ride. We handle gear transport, meals, campsites, and daily logistics so you can focus on riding and enjoying one of America’s most beautiful trails.

The Katy Trail

The Katy Trail State Park in Missouri is the longest continuous rail‑to‑trail route in the United States, stretching roughly 240 miles across the state on a flat, finely packed crushed limestone surface that is ideal for bicycle travel. The trail follows much of the former railroad corridor, tracing the Missouri River through forests, farmland, river bluffs, small historic towns, and scenic countryside. It’s a classic ride that suits those seeking a longer multi‑day journey with a relaxed paced on an easy trail. Because it was built on old railroad grades, the Katy Trail’s gentle grades and smooth surface make it easy for long distance riding.

Colorado Mountain Expeditions offers guided, inn-based trips on the Katy Trail, the most comfortable type of bike adventure we provide. Riders enjoy nightly stays in hotels while traveling between scenic towns, with all logistics and support handled for you.

Colorado Art Retreats

We invite you to join us for a Colorado art retreat that blends creativity, mountain adventure, and meaningful connection. At Colorado Mountain Expeditions, our art retreats are designed for people who want more than a typical workshop or vacation. These experiences are an opportunity to slow down, immerse yourself in beautiful landscapes, and create alongside like-minded travelers in the heart of the Rocky Mountains.

Each art adventure balances guided instruction with time to explore and discover. You might find yourself painting beside an alpine lake in the morning, sketching wildflowers in a sunny meadow, or capturing dramatic peaks from a quiet forest trail. Our small groups create a relaxed and supportive environment where artists of all experience levels feel welcome, encouraged, and inspired.

Our Colorado art retreats range from comfortable lodge-based getaways to adventurous backcountry journeys. Professional artists lead daily workshops, while our experienced team takes care of accommodations, meals, logistics, and local knowledge. All you need to do is show up with your curiosity and your creative spirit — we’ll handle the rest.

If you’re ready for an experience that nurtures your creativity, connects you with Colorado’s wild beauty, and leaves you with lasting memories and new artistic skills, we’d love to welcome you on an art retreat.
