Camp Life and Stargazing

Guests settle into a single, fully supported base camp along the Colorado River, an International Dark Sky Community. Relax under the stars, enjoy a communal tent with chairs and games, and take in the serene desert surroundings. Meals are freshly prepared by our guides, with breakfasts, packed lunches, and hearty dinners accommodating vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free diets.

The Hiking Experience

This adventure focuses on the diverse desert ecosystem surrounding Moab. Guests hike through quiet canyon washes, over sandstone fins, and across open desert plateaus. In May, spring wildflowers color the landscape, temperatures are comfortable, and the trails are perfect for exploration. Each day’s itinerary balances active hiking with time to rest, photograph the scenery, and soak in the unique desert environment.

Guests return each evening to base camp, creating a relaxed and consistent home base while still exploring a wide variety of Moab backcountry hikes. Hikers move at their own pace, with guides always available for support, ensuring a safe and immersive Utah hiking adventure for everyone.

Frequently Asked Questions

All of your camping and personal gear as well as food provisions are carried for you on this progressive five-day hike. This leaves you with a light load (day pack with water, lunch and rain gear) to hike with each day. Yes, we take care of the heavy loads!! The staff driven support trucks go to locations close to the Colorado Trail via jeep road where a community camp is set up.

Your only concern is to have a great time hiking each day. You will need to set up your own personal tent, but after that is done, you can come to the community tent, relax, clean up and eat your evening meal that has already been planned and prepared for you.

In the morning, while you are taking down your tent and packing your gear, we are preparing a wholesome warm breakfast for you.

A variety of fresh lunch items and snacks are put out everyday prior to hiking so you can self-design whatever you want to take with you to eat while hiking.
